Notes from episode #63

My dear friend Eloïse (#30) was the first person to tell me about the Women Authors of Achievement events with such enthusiasm that I couldn’t have been more curious to find out more about their live podcast.

I attended one, two, three evenings and each time I was blown away by the energy of the host, Daria Suvorova, the incredible guest list, the quality of the audience and the organisation of the event as a whole.

Since then, I’ve been dreaming of recording an interview with Daria, to find out how she came up and created such a unique concept in Berlin, and what her future plans are. With generosity, wise words and wonderful kindness, find out more about the project and the host of the Women Authors of Achievement.

Daria was born and brought up in a family environment where the beauty of meeting people, welcoming them and bringing them together was celebrated. After moving to Hamburg and then Berlin, she imagined and created the experiences she craved, hosting regular dinners in the city.

Pandemic opened a new chapter. The idea of starting a podcast sticked with Daria and the Women Authors of Achievement came to reality. Behind each of these encounters is the simple curiosity of having conversations with people who don’t speak common sense and who help to raise the bar. Daria is looking for true stories, leading people who have achieved something and proven themselves, straight-talking storytellers while showing a vast diversity of role models and personalities, protecting the independence and quality of the show.

As the boundaries were lifted, the idea of launching a live podcast, gathering the community took hold. Daria shares the importance of bringing quality and thoughts in every details of the process to make it sounds flawless and how to take with intention what comes very spontaneously in life and make it part of your vision and creation.

We also discussed about investing your own funds, starting small but setting the bar high and learning quickly to achieve bigger dreams: ‘if you dream small, you’ll never know what your full potential is’.

With the support of a small team, Daria does it all alongside her full-time job. This limitation forces her to stay focused, be wise with her time and choices. She also insists on having a good connection with your body, manifesting and getting into the right mode are essential to making each evening a success.

Finally, we talked about prospects for development, be it international recordings or merchandising, but also about growing as a person: going through discomfort, allowing your different personalities to co-exist without judging them and letting things come to you while staying thoughtful.

Also mentioned:

The 7 principles of life from Konstantin Paustovsky:

1️⃣ Write, read, live a very calm, thoughtful life, take your time.
2️⃣ Be very kind to people, but do not let them into your intimate life.
3️⃣ Do not make tragedies out of trifles, do not scandalised.
4️⃣ To live completely freely, to respect the freedom of other people’s feelings. Not judge people from third parties and not ascribe to people out of personal hostility all mortal sins.
5️⃣ Work on what you love.
6️⃣ Do you not get carried away with fashionable things and literature and art.
7️⃣ Rest more often, remove all the fuss in live.

Shout out to all the people who give their time to underdogs & if you liked the episode, send it to 5 friends 😉

More about the guest

Date of your arrival in Berlin: 9 February 2019

Why did you come to Berlin? The Hamburg chapter had come to a close. It was time to move on and embrace a new adventure.

What do you like the most about Berlin? Berlin is always evolving—never a static city. Over the years, it has become more familiar and even more to my taste. What I love most is this constant movement and the blend of subcultures that coexist here. I don’t think you find something quite like it in other big cities. It’s truly unique.

What bothers you the most? Perhaps it’s the city’s allure of eternal youth—it can make growing older feel challenging.

What are your 3 favorite places in Berlin?

  • Tempelhofer feld for sunset sessions
  • Saturday farmers market at Chamissoplatz
  • Weinverein am Berg

What is the most Berlin-like thing about you? For me, it’s choosing my outfits with cycling through the city in mind.

Your recipe for a successful integration? Be friendly, stay curious, and be a good listener. Don’t just take—bring something to the table.

Your recipe for homesickness? Make the most of every day and live without regrets.

Who would you like to hear on the podcast? Someone who lived and built something in Berlin during the ’90s or early 2000s—and is now reaping the rewards of their hard work. Someone who can take you on a bit of a time-travel journey, too.

For what reasons could we contact you? Awesome venue suggestions for my live podcast events!

Do you want to add anything? “Never stop being a good person because of the bad people around you.” The world today can be chaotic, filled with negativity. As good people, we must keep doing and building what is right, even when life gets tough.
