Topics: podcast, independent podcast, tech lead, rap, music, Mexico, Berlin
Landed in Berlin: 1st time august 2010 & permanently end of in February 2012.
I first met Luardo at the PodFest 2022. Together with Benji, they host the Guten Tag Alemania Podcast in Spanish and, since this beginning of the year, The Guten Tag Podcast in English. I was more than excited to have this conversation with whom I consider to be one of the finest expert when it comes to scaling a podcast on different platforms while having a family and a full time job.
In this conversation, discover new facets of Luardo, from balancing life, sizing opportunities, trusting yourself to dreaming big.
Have fun!
Notes from episode #65
Born and raised in Mexico, Luardo began his career as a rapper. With a strong desire to see the world and Europe in particular, he decided to do voluntary work in Stuttgart.
Love enters his life and although he is initially in a long-distance relationship, he decides to follow his feelings and move to Berlin. There, Luardo fights for an internship, benefits from the 90-day visa-free period and works hard, meeting different persons, building lasting relationships and eventually getting a long-term contract.
From this time, Luardo reports on the vibrant Berlin start-up scene of 2012 and reflects on today’s times, which have evolved from “everything is to be created” to “everything exists” and through which he is navigating.
During the pandemic, he and Benji decided to start the Guten Tag Alemania podcast in Spanish. Social and community-oriented (you can listen to an episode with Anna #8 here), they talk to various guests about the peculiarities of Germany, relationships, food, weather, administration, etc.
While the podcast attracts thousands of people on Youtube and Instagram, Luardo launches The Guten Tag Podcast in English and invites journalists, sociologists, pleasure activists, erotic writers, real estate agents, etc. to better understand society as foreigner.
From tools and interview style to impact of algorithms and next steps for the podcasts, Luardo takes us on his journey to find what you thrive for and put it out into the world.

More about the guest
Date of your arrival in Berlin: 1st time august 2010 & permanently end of in February 2012.
Why did you come to Berlin? For professional growth and love.
What do you like the most about Berlin? I love how international it feels. Berlin has so many “micro-universes” where you can immerse yourself—whether it’s in an artsy, creative scene, a tech-focused community, a musical atmosphere, or a vibrant Latin or Italian or English speaking or German culture. All of these worlds coexist here. I also appreciate the freedom people have to express themselves authentically in all aspects. I enjoy the cafés, restaurants, the Spree, beautiful views with Alt-Bau, unique boutiques, rich culture, and diverse bars. And it’s history.
What bothers you the most? I dislike how dirty it can get—the garbage, the random mattresses, and old fridges soaking in the rain. The drug-friendly culture and the sometimes forced “authentic” aesthetic can also be frustrating, as well as the weird people on the U-Bahn and around some stations.
What are your 3 favorite places in Berlin?
- Café am Neuen See
- Crossroad Eberswalder Str.
- Admiral Brücke
